Face mapping - free chart

Afternoon bloggers,

I figured this would be a good thing to write about since Christmas is coming & our skin tends to face most breakouts throughout seasons i.e. different climates, intake of more sugar/alcohol/processed food etc... You can apply whatever skin care you like - however if you have underlying skin problems then this will definitely help you.

Your skin is a great reflection on your diet. I have luckily never been a sufferer of acne however, I have struggled with bumpy skin surfaces what sometimes is defined to some people as 'under the skin spots' so to tackle this problem I have took a look into my diet & well being.

As you can see I don't have to do much talking as the face graph explains it all. If you have a lot of dairy, for example - you will notice this in the bladder area i.e. the forehead. Therefore I am actually just going to explain what you should be doing in order to tackle your skin area issue.

Christmas is coming! Therefore please DO NOT wipe out all the yummy things you should be eating in order too maintain this idea of fantastic skin! What I do advise from what I have learnt recently is to keep your diet balanced. This is the time of year for me where I tend to eat a lot more carbs however I make sure their usually whole grain and I eat brown rice and I leave the unlimited amount of potatoes for Christmas day! I can get away with this now as I started my new job a week ago which means I now have a nice 25 minutes power walk back and forth each day. I also eat so much fish and chicken it's unreal & I drink my body weight in water and green tea at work and at home so I pretty much am already easily balanced with food.

If you have my problem or acne or uneven skin tone etc... products do work! However usually the product is underlying and you may need to just write down what you eat day in and day out. Regular detox days are important especially after a heavy weekend partying or eating out!

Overall, my point is that Christmas I don't think is anybody's prime time to be losing weight. It's a time where we all wrap anyway so stuff the calories! However if you're on about skin care over winter here are some things to avoid and cut back on possibly too avoid major breakouts - I am not talking about small breakouts which are bound to happen.

  • Central heating - this plays havoc with your skin apparently! So layering up in the house is probably a better option.

  • Caffeine - coffees and energy drinks are okay maybe one in the morning to wake yourself up, but try and drink water and other teas and drinks in the day which are preferably sugar free.

  • Too much alcohol - try and make sure you're keeping hydrated between drinks or before your night and after. This is a vital role in actually keeping your hangover at bay which I am sure everyone wants but your body also isn't going into complete Dehydration! If you're having troubles with your forehead then this is where your liver is unhappy.

  • Too little exercise - I have no excuses anymore. I don't own a car and their are no buses that go my way to work so I have at least 50 minutes fast walking a day which I need to be honest when working at a computer all day!

Their are plenty more things you can do however these are just tips I have learnt from my personal experiences. One thing I would like to write about next time is starting from today I will be doing a 30 day skin map hopefully where each day I will be able track my progress & changes in my diet to help eliminate these skin issues and then to share with you guys!

I hope I have helped a few of you with just general skin care tips or ideas - this was just something I was thinking about on my dinner today and I thought it may come in handy.

Please feel free to share your thoughts, comments and problems as well - I am always more than delighted to engage conversation!

Happy Blogging,

Beginners guide to applying False Eyelashes

Good afternoon bloggers,

So Halloween has just slipped away and I must say I have seen some tutorials and make-up looks that words simply cannot describe! However, I have never applied eye lashes before not even for a night out as I never really have felt the need too. However I went out as a kitty cat on Friday night and I had the 'winged eyeliner and lashes' going on! From watching endless beauty tutorials, I was able too remember key tips which I have learnt and practiced. I am going too show you in easy detail how too successfully apply eyelashes - no tricky equipment, just simple hands or tweezer application if you wish.

  1. I would recommend you apply any eye liner or eye shadow first simply because depending on the eyelash length - it will be a little tricky too apply those afterwards. Once you have a basic guide way of eye liner - you can easily disguise any gaps with more eyeliner. Always leave the lashes bare though until the lashes are applied, after applying the eye lashes - then blend your own eye lashes with the false ones.
  2. Make sure before you put glue onto the lashes that you measure them with your own eyes. Sometimes you will find their too long at the end so simply just snip bit by bit off at the end until they meet your desired length. Secondly, always make sure the eyelash is placed on the closest eye lash too your nose, as you're going too be cutting away the outer lashes and I say bit by bit because you don't want too cut too much off - work on them bit by bit.
  3. Once you have followed these two prep & prime steps what I would call them.. apply the glue too your false lashes. I recommend applying the glue first too the lashes and leaving them for 20-30 seconds so the glue is very sticky on the lashes. This is because I have noticed that when applying the glue and then straight away applying them that I can never get them too stick on and before you know it - you have ruined your eye-makeup! Yet everyone is too their own.
  4. Try and measure the lashes to your own before applying them because if you have set the glue it will be tricky to adjust them once they have been applied and you will end up with glue on your lashes and we don't want that!
  5. Hold the lashes even though they're sticky. Yes, they do have more chance of applying faster than applying them straight away - but they still need to be placed carefully.
  6. Once you feel as if the lashes are comfortable in their places - I like to use a cotton bud or a tweezer too use the skin on my eyeball too gently press down on the eye lashes. Not too harshly because you will knock the lashes off. This just helps the skin blend in more with the lashes and I feel as if it worked great for me!
  7. More than usual for beginners its extremely frustrating at the beginning maybe and even for professionals because it's a bummer when you do all the eye prep and you only need one shaky hand too have that all ruined! Yet applying false eyelashes is incredibly fun I love all the quirky and crazy ones you can get these days and I would definitely consider wearing them more on nights out because they just enhance your eyes and they do look amazing!

Too the left is my first attempt following all the tips and steps above. The right eye looks as if it's lost half the eyelash, but that was just the thickness of my eyeliner. This is extremely simple. I was pretty disappointed in my poor make-up for Halloween, however I have learnt some amazing skills and I hope to do better Christmas makeup!

Why is Coconut Oil good for you?

Hello bloggers,

So the other week I discovered 'skinny coconut oil' as I was reading a lot about coconut oil and I came across their intsagram and fell in love. Below is a picture of some of their designs. They are not a UK company however I know that payday comes - I have a wish list from their website! That is when I will be able too review them and tell you all what I think.. until then though, I am going too be sharing with you why coconut oil is mainly important in the winter..

Did you know that the coconuts this company uses are harvested in Vietnam? That's right, not your nearest farm near a polluted base of factories... Vietnam! Straight from the source you always get your moneys worth.

Coconut in general too drink can be very sweet and off-putting for some people I get that. Yet how about incorporating it into your foods? your hair masks? face masks? and so on... Coconuts are great for the winter simply because:

  1. After all that Christmas boozing coming up and staff parties, celebration boxes and Sunday roasts.. it aids digestion, which means it will help make the stomach feel a little lighter and you not feeling so sluggish!
  2. We all know that in winter, we don't want too go out and run or even attempt to go to the gym, really do we? Anyone that does - you're brave! I know that after work the only thing  I want too do is to get into my comfy clothes and relax! Yet what happens when we stop exercising as much and eating those high-metabolism foods? It drops yet luckily.. coconut oil stimulates your metabolism!
  3. I think this is the best one. During winter women tend to deal with the S.A.D - seasonal affect disorder, i'm on them lines somewhere and basically your body goes into shutdown. It's a horrible thing too deal with but you're not alone! Coconut oil also improves energy levels, aids in weight loss, helps to keep blood sugar levels stable AND it adds too the aid of absorption of minerals and nutrients! Wow.. and breathe!
  4. IT STRENGTHENS THE IMMUNE SYSTEM! This is vital - so many nasty bugs are going around all the time... keeping your immune system high is key. You need too protect your body and put that first because you only get one body so really you should be treating it as if it's a temple. Simply as Lemsip's relieve the symptoms of a cold but your body is what actually fights the cold off!
  5. A big thing round Christmas is Depression. Sadly not everyone enjoys it and sometimes it's the worst time of the year for some people because their usually without family, a job, money, loved ones and sometimes even their homes. However depression also occurs in like i referred to before S.A.D in women - coconut oil can lift your mood and make you feel better about yourself simply because the more nutrients your body is given, the better you feel mentally. You should know this as in if you've been on a very heavy junk-fuled, boozing, partying weekend.. you feel like rubbish, but imagine doing everything differently!

Adding too that, you're probably thinking this can't be real.. well it can all do this! Simply put it this way, healthy/clean foods - basically a cave-mans diet are packed full of all the goodness you need. You can still have your cravings, as long as you source your main meals around food from the earth! Coconut's are vital for great health and I could list so many more pointers.. but I simply have outlined the winter affects mainly and how coconuts can prevent and better those conditions.

I hope you have enjoyed reading and go and check out skinnycoconutoil, it's the new craze!

How to beat winter blues!

Introduction: Crazy topic, right?! I know it's only just left summer and already in Autumn, yet some of us are definitely feeling the cold and the nasty bugs that come with it... one of those innocent people would be me, what a surprise!

I was up on Wednesday night til 3:47am, covered in Vic and trying to sweat the flu out.. I could say it was one of the worst nights sleep I have ever had. Somehow I got to sleep and I thought 'wow, I think it's gone' Yet I was so wrong! Last December I ended up in hospital with a cruel lung infection. I tried too fight the flu off without anti-biotics and too try and still go to work but my immune system was so low I couldn't not take the anti-biotics. That was the first year I had severe tonsillitis and diagnosed with asthma.

SO.. this is why I am going to let you all know some home-remedies of mine and obviously one's I have took from my grandma when she has had too look after me. You can use these now and think well ahead of yourself to ward off the flu or you can use these whilst you're pending a doctor's appointment too soothe the flu symptoms!

  • Clean up your diet and pack it with whole/pure/organic/unprocessed/anti-oxidant rich, and anti-inflammatory foods.
After all you are what you eat. The weather is going too get so cold soon outside and so many people will be carrying a bug that if you don't start looking after yourself - you are going to fall ill as you are not invisible. Instead of heading to Mc'donalds for breakfast, have yourself some porridge with blueberries or banana and maybe some honey! So much more nutrient for the body and also less calories and will do wonders for building that immune wall! Berries are great for the skin & are also fat burning foods as they're super foods so instead of thinking of it as 'it's sick food' they're actually very tasty, filling and good for you!

The colder season is coming so you need to make sure you are eating warmer foods. Also eating hot food instead of cold food makes the digestive system more at ease and then your stomach doesn't end up in a swamp.. right before party season! Don't want that do we?

Finally anti-inflammatory foods! Why are these important foods? Let's start with the name... Anti-inflammatory is part of your immune system, without this - we cannot heal our bodies. Fatty fish, whole grains, dark leafy greens, nuts,  soy, low-fat-dairy, peppers, tomatoes, kale, ginger and turmeric etc... Get them all on your plates this instant!
With about 70% of the Immune system residing in the gut, this is the main focus on your health! Heal the gut starting today!

  • Eat your garlic & Coconut Oil

If not breathing on/ or kissing anyone for a few hours (OK maybe a day) meant saving you from feeling like you are on deaths door - then I'd definitely have some garlic in my dinner! Garlic is anti-bacterial, it acts as a potent antibiotic, anti-fungal and anti-viral and can prevent infections from taking hold and spreading. It is also rich in Vitamin C (vital for high immune system), B6, Selenium and many others.. therefore lots of immune boosting benefits! Only a couple raw cloves is all you need a day and you can chop it up and add it to salads, soups, sauces or already cooked meals. A few drizzles never did anyone in good healthy any harm!

Coconut oil is fattening so be careful when throwing it in foods and smoothies but it's a very good fat and the fat won't do you any harm at all. Coconut strengthens the immune system as it contains antimicrobial lipids, lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid which have anti fungal, antibacterial and antiviral properties.

    • Steaming the face with VIC
I have done this a few times for clearing my skin or opening my pores. When you are all flu'ed up and you have a runny nose the mucus is most likely too drip down onto the throat and aggravate your cough even more. Therefore always have tissues ready to blow your nose and clear the airways and also if you cough up any mucus no matter how much, get rid of it, you have coughed it up for a reason - you body doesn't want it there no more!

    1. This tends to work wonders in the night when the cough will come at it's worst when you're lying down.
    2. Get a bowl big enough too fit your face in - usually a washing up bowl does the trick (just wash it out before you cleanse your face).
    3. Boil the kettle until it's piping hot and before you empty the kettle into the bowl, place some Vic from the pot into the bottom of the bowl. I tend too use 5 fingertips worth for this action.
    4. Then pour the water in the bowl - you must have a towel ready. You don't need a lot of water - not even a quarter of the sink if you're using a big sink basin type.
    5. Then place the bowl with the hot water in somewhere where you can sit comfortably. I tend too lie it on the floor so I can lie down and place my head over it as if you're doing it for several minutes, it is going to hurt your back if sitting and leaning over it.
    6. So then you're going to place the towel over your head whilst over the bowl. BEWARE - if you've done this quickly which is the most efficient way because the water is the hottest, then if your face is very hot and uncomfortable, breathe for a second and let some of the hot air out.
    7. However try and bare the heat to a certain extent because the VIC and hot water are opening not just the pores and clearing the skin beautifully, they are clearing your airways and making it easier and clearer too breathe.
    8. You can do this until the water heat as cooled and you can then take the towel off and dab your face dry.
Top Tip: Also when going to get into bed afterwards - if your airways are still not completely clear, cover the nose corners with VIC, behind the ears, chest, back of the neck and forehead. Honey & Lemon clear the throat best to relieve tickly coughs in the night or when you're having a nasty attack.

    • If you do fall ill - take note of how you got ill!
I could write a book on what foods to eat or what pills too buy to get prevent and soothe the cough. You need too take care of your gut this winter - you should all the time to be honest but your body is more likely to under come attack other than summer as in winter you tend too lack major vitamin D which is what the sun gives us naturally. If the cough continues though for more than 4-6 weeks contact your GP as it could be an underlying problem and you possibly may just have too have it treated or antibiotics because your body can't fight off the infection. other than that, I hope you all have a super autumn/winter season. Alba Botanica Good & Clean Dual Textured Exfoliating Towelettes.

Okay, firstly I know what you're thinking.. WHAT ARE THOSE?!
These are from a store called Target, in America.

You will find the link in the bottom of this review.

    What do they do?
Basically it's a towelette, and one side cleanses and one side tones. The first thing I instantly dislike is that if you don't have clean hands, then you're just going to apply dirt to your face. So their not really handy to take out with you unless you have hand gel available.

Avoiding that con - the insanely great benefit of these wipes is that one side is actually bumpy which gives the face a good scub getting rid of those dead skin cells, and the other side is a smooth side revealing a soft, cleansing wipe to the face.

These came in at $5.49, as far as i'm aware of they're not launched in the UK yet. Yet I would recommend you buying from Target as they have special delivery on at the moment, and it's more beneficial to obviously buy more than one thing if you're getting it shipped - in my opion.

Seems a bit too much to get it shipped? I believe so if you can find something similar in the UK. I also believe why would you want to spend £3 or £4 on these wipes when you can just buy some cheap exfoliating gloves and then apply some milk to the face.

I just believe that after a late night or a party and you're coming home in the morning and you feel a bit disgusting, these make you feel more freshened. That's what I like most about them!

Lush Ocean Salt Facial Scrub ♥

Okay, hello guys! My bedroom is currently under construction - let's call it that, until September. Therefore I don't really want to take any pictures until it's finished in there. Today i'm going to be telling you about my latest product from Lush cosmetics. This is a small pot container therefore it's easy to take with you if you're going on holiday, to a party and you're staying over.. for a weekend break etc... I went in and tested the product for itself to save the disappointment from ordering online and not liking it. The container pretty much does everything on the label. You massage a small amount of the mixture on to your hands and apply onto damp skin. You must not apply too hard as in you're scrubbing it as it can be quite harsh as you can imagine with it being sea salt - so be careful. I feel that as summer has approached, this certain product has helped me stip back the winter skin and has helped me reveal a lighter, fresher complexion.

LUSH has been a favorite store of mine for quite some time now due to the fact that they don't test on animals. They also hold FANTASTIC protesting events against testing on animals. The product comes in at £12.95 for 250g - which is the above pot size. Would i say that's pricey? Considering it's a facial scrub, maybe so. Yet you're getting what you pay for - quality. I would rather apply a small amount of this than too buy a lot cheaper facial scrub that probably has been tested on animals and might actually just damage my skin. This is a genuine treat for the face and is a MUST for summer. The sea salt has been refined to not dry out the skin but to leave the skin feeling refreshed, cool and fully cleansed.

Was i a happy buyer? that's the question: indeed i was!
Have you tried this product? Maybe you can share your experience with us?

    Garnier BB cream

This is my ultimate summer lust. As I and plenty of people already know, BB creams have taken the beauty world by storm and as summer comes, there’s nothing more that you want then to feel comfortable in your own skin without applying lots of makeup. BB stands for Beauty or Blemish barm, a multi-functional cream that has both make-up and skin care properties, so remember to still take off the BB cream before you go to bed! In the summer/spring, it’s hot – therefore why would you want your usual routine of maybe: primer, concealer, foundation, setting powder, blush etc… At night probably but in the day i’ve found that i want to have a little bit of coverage but not a lot – that’s why i brought the Garnier BB cream! This BB cream has been awarded by Cosmopolitan in the beauty awards of 2012 and is up and running again for them for 2013. It’s also been awarded by Zest Smart beauty awards in 2012, and Bazaar Beauty top 100 in 2012. The reason why? It’s an all-in-one moisturizer combining skincare with mineral pigments to even skin tone, illuminate, cover imperfections, with 24Hr Hydration and SPF protection. It’s great for people with sensitive skin and people who want a light coverage, it’s also easy to build coverage though. Below is also the oil-free version they brought out which gives people that ‘matte’ effect and definitely improves the skin tone and reduces oiliness. The original BB cream by Garner can still be used on oily-skin but i recommend using a powder afterwards to matte the oily areas. I did use this product in winter when i over-used my moisturizer as it was so dry and i realized that I didn’t quite like the matte effect as i like that glow on people, however i was having a few skin problems and i switched to the oil-free one and it worked great with my skin. I invested in a nice blush and illuminatior to give me that glow in certain areas if i needed it.
Here is all the info from Garnier if you need it: http://www.garnier.co.uk/_en/_gb/bb-cream/index.aspx and it’s available in all drug stores, beauty shops and online!
