Advice for sensitive, fine and damaged hair, featuring The Tangle Teezer

Plenty of women complain about their hair and this is completely understandable because as women, when we have bad hair days and bad make-up days we can feel as if the day has been ruined already. I can certainly relate because I just feel totally miserable if I don't look good, because I don't feel good. I would rather wear comfy clothes and have okay hair, make-up, skin, clean nails and just look more fresh than look stylish.

Personally for me, my hair concerns have never been a problem. Throughout school my friends went through stages or whole years by doing "at home" hair dyes, bleaching, excessive hair styling and not protecting their hair properly. Whereas I used to run all the time, so my hair was always in a pony tail, I never blow dried it because I could never be bothered in school I was pretty tom boyish and I didn't like my hair super straight or curled at that time. I also because of my running, ate a lot of fish and protein. I was obsessed with cucumber, broccoli, water and green tea (I still am!) Therefore my hair was in pretty good condition...

You can achieve that also by:

  • Leaving your hair to dry - if you need volume I would recommend "Batiste Dry Shampoo". I have tried nearly every single dry shampoo in drug stores and this is my ultimate number one product.
  • A good shampoo and conditioner. You should feel blessed if your hair has no problematic areas however you should still make sure you're not using harmful ingredients. A great brand is Kerastase.
  • Eating a good diet. If you eat poorly it most definitely will show on your skin - no matter what primer you use, the expense of your products or how much you apply. If you also eat poorly it's going to show on your body, your mindset and your hair.
  • If you can't stomach fish, nuts & meat - definitely invest in some supplements, not just for the sake of your hair but how for the sake of your health and your well being.

I definitely am not one to sit here and lie and say that "I never touch my hair and damage it!" because I have. In a rush in the past I haven't used heat protector or any conditioning treatments. Before I started taking care of my hair on holiday I never looked after my scalp, hair or even skin. We've all done it, but it's not too late to fix it.

Now you have heard my story on a good run on fortunate hair, I am now going to reassure you I was not blowing my own trumpet because I have gorgeous locks - not so long ago I didn't. At the age of 13, I cut my head open right at the back of my head. Stupid, childish mistake - who the hell throws a log up into a tree to catch some conquers and waits for them to come down is an idiot - that idiot was me. Instead of rushing from the tree or even thinking twice about throwing the log up, I covered the my head and panicked - I just froze. Of course It came back down and my very, very bad friend was crying laughing - in shock and in laughter.

I was quickly rushed to the hospital with a towel over my head and when my mum, step dad and brother were phoned to have found out what had happened I knew what they was going to say "well this is just you all over Sophie". Of course they was laughing as well, as soon as they found out I was okay! I needed my head gluing. I was petrified, I was asked if I wanted to know what it looked like & I definitely did not. It was about 2 & half / 3 inches deep.

So from that incident my hair has been super hair sore. When I go to the hairdressers I am a nightmare, I explain before I go to be careful because I am hair sore and it was over 5 years ago now but it still is so sensitive. I then realized I needed a brush that would be gentle on my hair & head. Many times It was so sore afterwards I avoided brushing the back of my hair and I regretted that every time. I would have rather now looking back just spent more time combing the back of my hair than sat on the floor crying my eyes out whilst my mum De-tangled all of my hair.

I then found "the brush". Something for the first time I found incredibly useful for the shower with wet hair, dry hair, brushing out products and so on... I had heard amazing things about the Tangle Teezer. The Tangle Teezer has legitimately changed my life. Now you've probably lose all hope because you're most likely thinking that I was paid to say this. Yet as you will find on my blog, none of my articles have been affiliated with that behavior. I just had to share with you this product that has worked wonders for me.

The short rubber bristles gently but thoroughly help the brush to glide through the hair and gently De-tangle like no other brush or comb I’ve ever tried. The one thing which would be amazing is if they brought out the exact same brush style for blow drying your hair, however I have happily coped combing my hair thoroughly with this brush and then going onto my rounded brush for volume.

I hope you enjoyed this post, I hope you had a good giggle at my walk in the park incident. Have a fabulous weekend.
